Terms of Service

Plain-English summary: VidBoards is free software for personal and commercial use. It runs entirely on your machine — we have no access to your files or data. Use it responsibly, don't redistribute it without permission, and understand there is no warranty. Full details below.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the VidBoards application ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

These Terms form the entire agreement between you and the VidBoards project ("we", "us", "our") regarding your use of the Software. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will indicate the "Last updated" date above when changes are made.

2. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

  • Download and install the Software on any number of personal devices that you own or control
  • Use the Software for personal, educational, or commercial purposes
  • Create, save, and export project files generated by the Software

This license is for the compiled Software only. It does not transfer any intellectual property rights to you. All title, ownership, and intellectual property rights in and to the Software remain exclusively with the VidBoards project.

3. Restrictions

You may not:

  • Redistribute, sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or transfer the Software or any portion thereof to any third party without our prior written permission
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the Software, except to the extent permitted by applicable law
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices, labels, or marks on the Software
  • Use the Software to build a competing product or service
  • Use the Software in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
  • Use the Software to process or display illegal content, including but not limited to content that violates intellectual property rights or applicable content laws

4. User Content & Responsibility

VidBoards processes media files that you provide. You are solely responsible for the content you load into the Software, including videos, images, and associated metadata. You represent and warrant that:

  • You have all necessary rights to the files you use with the Software
  • Your use of those files does not infringe any third-party rights
  • You will comply with all applicable laws relating to the content you process

We have no access to, and assume no responsibility for, any files or content you process locally with the Software.

5. No Warranty

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Software will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant that defects will be corrected. You use the Software at your sole risk.

6. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE VIDBOARDS PROJECT, ITS CONTRIBUTORS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

IN JURISDICTIONS THAT DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES OR LIABILITY, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

7. Data & Privacy

VidBoards is a local desktop application. It does not transmit your files, project data, or personal information to any server. Your data stays on your device at all times. Please review our full Privacy Policy for complete details.

8. Third-Party Components

The Software is built using Electron and other open-source libraries. Those components are subject to their respective licenses. Use of the Software does not grant you any rights under those third-party licenses beyond what is already granted.

9. Updates & Changes

We may update the Software from time to time. Updates may add, change, or remove features. We have no obligation to provide updates, but when we do, they are covered by these Terms unless separate terms accompany them.

10. Termination

These Terms are effective until terminated. Your rights under these Terms will terminate automatically without notice if you fail to comply with any provision. Upon termination, you must destroy all copies of the Software in your possession. Sections 3, 5, 6, and 11 survive termination.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable international law. We make no representation that the Software is appropriate or available for use in all jurisdictions. You are responsible for compliance with local law where applicable.

12. Donations & Payments

VidBoards is free software. Any payments made through this website are voluntary donations intended to support the development of the project. Payments are non-refundable.
